Cafe Vamp in Hawthorn

If you manage to get a seat in this groovy cafe, you are destined for a good coffee. Although coffee is not the only popular item in this place - a regular haunt of Hawthorn footballers, the breakfast and lunchtime offerings are well worth consideration. Cafe Vamp serves Coffex coffee, with our standard flat white sample returning with good, smooth milk and a nice taste. Cafe Vamp is located at 727 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn.

Consistently good coffee

After sampling coffee at their first cafe several years ago, there was little doubt that the duo that run Ludo would not succeed in replicating their success. This little cafe is on Queen Street, near the corner of Little Collins St (118 Queen St to be exact!). The coffee is the same consistently good standard, with their machine utilising the great flavour of Illy coffee. We also recommend the great soups and other eats that this cafe has - the larger size of their new place makes sure that you can enjoy lunch in a funky looking environment. Our favs are the Portugese tarts and the tasty soups during the winter months.

As a note, Azure also list Ludo as a wireless hotspot for their network (current as at 11/1/2005).

Only great local cafes

We at "cafes in melbourne" see this site as a long overdue response to the rapidly expanding number of bland, generic coffee stores that seem to be appearing all across Melbourne and surrounding suburbs. We are not setting out to denounce these coffee stores, instead will attempt to highlight the large number of alternatives that do exist; local cafes that offer a better, cheaper and friendlier environment in which to enjoy your next espresso, latte or flat white. We will only publish reviews of cafes that we deem as great places to have a coffee. This could be for a number of reasons, and we realise that rating cafes is incredibly subjetive, however we will endeavour to ensure that all the cafes highlighted on our site have one thing in common - consistently great coffee.

Please feel free to contribute your own recommendations - we will be setting up a contact email address as soon as we get a few extra minutes.
